“We reached out to DCRS to assist us as we were having issues with communications at events. Our current radios weren’t clear enough, didn’t work far enough and overall weren’t suitable for what we do. As we operate in a high-risk environment, having clear communications is absolutely mission critical. DCRS made sure they understood our requirements and went through options that would suit us.
For the Randox Aintree Grand National, we settled on a two-repeater setup, offering us four digital channels over a wide area. We then had Motorola handheld radios for all staff, with heavy duty noise cancelling headphones for those working airside, and covert earpieces for those working in the terminal. We then also had ATEX Motorola Handhelds for our fuellers, as they operate Rotors Running fuelling operations.
DCRS made sure we had the equipment in plenty of time, provided an in-depth brief of setup and operations, and even sorted out special event radio licences, as some of the events we operate have a lot of different radio operators in use.
