Two-Way Radio Bench Engineer (Based in St Ives, Cambs)

 

As part of our growth forecast we now have an opening for a two way radio bench engineer in our engineering department at our Headquarter in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

 

DCRS have been trading for 30 years and are one of the UK’s largest independent dealerships for voice & data radio communications products & applications. We work with major manufacturers such as Motorola Solutions, Hytera, Kenwood & Icom and various application partners.

 

Role Includes:

  • Trouble-shooting & repair of high-end radio products down to the component level
    (These products will include portables, mobiles and repeaters)
  • Having a good hand for soldering and identifying electronic components
  • Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and service schedules to repair customer product
  • Extensive troubleshooting to the component level for both analogue and digital
  • Requesting of parts from Stockroom
  • Filling out repair reports
  • Communicating with customer by telephone
  • Advising Supervisor of recurring problems
  • Training lower level technicians
  • The candidate must meet daily production goals in a fast-paced environment, must have hands-on experience

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with RF communications and radio
  • Understanding of RF theory and basic electronics to the component level
  • Proficient in the use of a communications analyser, electrical circuit trouble-shooting and operation of test equipment

Radio Engineer Apprentice / Trainee (one filled / one position available)

 

Are you interested in digital technology? Or have you had experience in CCTV / Alarms / IT?

 

DCRS have been trading for 30 years and are one of the UK’s largest independent dealerships for voice & data radio communications products & applications. As part of our growth forecast, we now have an opening for an apprentice/ trainee in our engineering department to train to become a successful radio engineer.

We work with major manufacturers and application partners that all offer training and will enable you to enhance your skill set. No previous experience is necessary.

 

Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Based at our HQ in St Ives, Cambridgeshire the role will involve working with radio communications equipment and in the future data and system applications
  • You will learn skills such as; programming, fault finding and repairing of two-way radio equipment
  • You will provide engineering support working alongside our Senior Engineers on clients’ sites (E.g. visits, demonstration, training, installation and deployment)
  • You will assist in the maintenance and administration of databases used within the company to update clients repairs & equipment details

 

Desired Skills

  • Have a positive work ethic and a desire to learn
  • Good communication skills
  • Flexibility in your working hours ( some jobs may require early starts and late finishes )
  • Driving License ( not necessary to begin with )

Senior Radio Systems Engineer

 

We are a premier Radio Communications Solutions Company based in Cambridgeshire currently looking to recruit a Senior Radio Systems Engineer.

 

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in system design, new system installations, maintenance and systems engineering involving practical and statistical process optimisation, analysis, development, and testing.

 

Minimum requirements in:

  • Trouble-shooting & repair of high-end radio products down to the component level
  • Basics of Networking, TCP/IP and basic DOS utilities
  • VOIP
  • RS232 devices and Data Protocols
  • GPS tracking
  • Fully Computer Literate, i.e. familiar with System Management / Services / Networking etc.
  • Producing reports and system documentation
  • Operation and use of RF test equipment
  • Antenna system design and installation
  • Although not essential, it would be desirable for applicants to have experience of data / despatch systems and have an understanding of the on-air despatch methods/registration processes.

 

The ideal candidate must:

  • Hold a valid UK driving license. Prepared to travel throughout the U.K. and willing to work flexible hours whenever necessary
  • Maintain a strong commitment to customer care providing high levels of customer service
  • Possess good communication and presentation skills
  • Display good organisational skills, able to plan, prioritise tasks and co-ordinate with the work of others

Sales Executive – Must have radio communications experience

We work with all major radio manufacturers such as Motorola Solutions, Vertex Standard and Hytera.

 

Due to continued growth, we are actively looking to recruit an experienced New Business Sales Executive to be based from either our Headquarters in St Ives, Cambridgeshire or our Northern Regional Office in Chesterfield.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish solid, long-term relationships with clients at all levels through meetings, calls/site visits
  • Act as a trusted adviser and consultant to clients throughout the sales cycle by actively applying relevant market knowledge
  • Identify potential growth accounts and proactively seek out opportunities
  • Target an identified client base and continuously develop to gain market share, enhance margins and exceed targets

 

Key skills and attributes

  • At least three years experience in both Analogue and Digital Radio Systems including radio applications
  • Experience territory planning and strategy setting for region and verticals
  • Demonstrated experience in selling, negotiating and closing assigned accounts/markets
  • Planning, prioritisation and organisation – skilled in prioritising multiple projects/tasks, tracking and following through on activities
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral, including negotiating price, terms, conditions and profitability of a deal

National Sales Account Manager – Based North or South

We are actively looking to recruit a Sales Account Manager to be based from either our Headquarters in St Ives, Cambridgeshire or our Northern Regional Office in Chesterfield.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Working with our existing Sales Team and Marketing Manager your mission is to develop new and nurture existing, well-established accounts
  • Create awareness of our portfolio & services that we can offer
  • Liaise and work with the technical pre-sales / R&D team where necessary
  • Actively participate in events and promotional activity that helps drive business opportunity
  • Ensure all enquiries are handled in line with quality procedures and company standards
  • Embrace change and provide constructive ideas for improving service, working methods and environment

Bench and Field Maintenance / Installation Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Radio Engineer with knowledge in Analogue and Digital Radio Communications Equipment.

 

Experience with Systems and Distributed Antenna Networking is advantageous ( training will be given). DCRS work with major manufacturers and application partners that all offer training and will enable you to enhance your skill set.

 

Duties include:

  • Bench Engineering – repairing / rectifying faults
  • On-site Radio system installation, test and commissioning
  • On-site Radio system fault tracing and rectification
  • Travel to customers premises is expected
  • Participation in call-out rota is required
  • Liaison with clients, manufacturers and 3rd party suppliers
  • Telephone/remote PC support for clients
  • Technical administration and documentation
