CASE STUDY: ANDROMEDA AND MOTOTRBO RADIO SYSTEM – VELOTHON WALES
Andromeda and MOTOTRBO Technologies work together to bring Wide Area Event Unified Communications
Previously utilising Analogue radio equipment, the Event Organisers found they could not always cover every part of the course from delivering standard broadcasts that are made to the field teams, so they are aware that the cyclists are approaching the next area of the route to emergency messages requesting urgent assistance.
When designing the communications solution for Velothon Wales, Andromeda turned to trusted partner DCRS to assist in providing a multi-functional Motorola Radio System for the Pro Race convoy, linked to the wide-area Andromeda GSM Radios.
Taking on some of the most breath-taking scenery that Wales has to offer the closed road cycling sportive Velothon Wales is a difficult route for everyone involved.
The event itself welcomes approximately 15,000 cyclists which include sportive riders, ironman in training, charity fundraisers or simply cycling enthusiasts that like to take on a challenge.
Communication is crucial for an event of this magnitude, and all Organisers including Field Teams, Peloton Cars, Traffic Management and Emergency Services need a reliable system that will give a coverage footprint of 175km.
