Professional Business Radio, also known as Private Mobile Radio (PMR) are radio communications systems which use portables, mobiles, base stations, and are sometimes based on such standards as MPT-1327.
Large sites with teams working in different areas means that communication cannot only be difficult but costly. Communicate around town, between sites, or with a team working throughout a region with a great range or enhanced security and safety features.
Licenses are required to operate this equipment. After the licence has been paid for there is no cost for the transmissions that are made, individual calls are not charged for.If we haven’t detailed a product or, solution that you are searching for we will endeavour to source it for you through our vast number of contacts in the communications industry. Installed Systems
The heart of a wide area communication systems. Where you require coverage of a large area this can be achieved by utilising items such as a base station or repeater station. These are often installed on elevated sites.
Small sites benefit from base stations with a desktop installed base. This format eliminates the danger of radio emissions affecting delicate control and computer equipment.
Repeaters are often a standard requirement by large industrial/retail concerns such as: shopwatch schemes, retail centres, or prisons to name but a few.
Where a radio system is operating with a repeater or base station it is possible to install a telephone interface – which can also bring further advantages by giving it even more functionality within day to day usage. Key personnel using radio may be contacted by telephone and vice versa which means that reporting a request, incidents & emergencies is both quick and easy.
Our team of project engineer managers facilitate the accurate and efficient execution of all communications systems, providing full support on all projects from inception to conclusion.

Radio Licensing
There are three types of radio Digital, Analogue PBR, andPMR446. DCRS can assist you with any aspect of radio licensing.
Why do I need a radio licence to operate my two-way radios?
Both Digital and Analogue radios operate on either VHF or, UHF radio frequencies, which is issued and co-ordinated by the Government run agency Ofcom. In order to transmit on these frequencies, you are required to have a valid licence issued by Ofcom. There are benefits of a licensed frequency such as:· Larger range · Less interference from other users These frequencies are allocated to businesses only, on a case-by-case basis. Once your licence has been issued with your own frequencies, DCRS Ltd. can then programme them into your radios, there is no limit to how many radios you have the frequencies put in to.
|
I would like to utilise PMR446 Radios, why do I not need a radio licence for these?
PMR446 Two-way radios operate on 8 UHF frequencies that have been issued for general on-site usage by the Ofcom. These frequencies have been allocated to a European service called PMR446 and there isn't a restriction on where you use the radios. All the frequencies are programmed into the radios at time of manufacture and cannot be changed or added too.
|
So how do I apply for a Radio Licence?
As part of the service offered by DCRS Ltd we can assist you with applying for your radio licence except for paying the fees required you will need to send this directly to Ofcom. A NEW Licence application typically takes two to three weeks.
|
How much could a radio licence cost me?
Below are some typical annual fees, they are per frequency, per site and they may vary
Rural Areas - £75 per annum
Sub Urban Areas i.e. Outskirts of London - from/upto £100 per annum
Highly Populated Areas i.e. Central London - from/upto £200 per annum.

Trunking Radio (MPT1327)
Trunking Radio and SystemsTrunking is the sharing of a small number of communication channels among a large number of users. It brings together groups of users to communicate, schedule, organise and plan the workflow of operations in a defined area using an automatic trunked system.
Trunking radio systems provide the ability to send and receive voice data and information in a highly efficient and cost-effective manner. For organisations where instant, effective and private communications are a vital part of everyday operation, a trunked two-way radio system provides the coverage, channel efficiency, security and flexibility needed.
The central controller, which is a computerised switch, makes channel selections and other decisions normally made by the radio user.
Trunking offers many benefits, including faster system access, better channel efficiency, more user privacy and the flexibility to expand. Because of its flexibility, a trunked system can expand along with your operation, to accommodate a growing number of users and restructuring of talkgroups.
With trunking large quantities of users will no longer need to share a common RF channel and compete for airtime. In addition, users won't need to monitor a channel in order to make a call on their own.
